Polka Theatre praise the HeatingSave system
Polka started life as a touring company in 1967, under the Artistic Directorship of Richard Gill. Gill was spurred on by a commitment to fine design and craftsmanship and a passion for puppetry, taking the company’s work to many of Britain’s major theatres. By 1971, Polka was attracting staggering audiences of 250,000 each year.
Polka – The Children’s Theatre opened its doors on the 20th of November 1979. It was the UK’s first theatre venue dedicated exclusively to children. This momentous event was marked by a Gala Performance attended by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. The theatre has re-imagined what a dedicated children’s theatre could and should be for young audiences and their families. Our state-of the-art building is a vibrant hub for future generations, right at the heart of our community.
Searching for a solution to help better manage their building’s energy consumption, Polka Theatre decided upon HeatingSave. The theatre has now been a HeatingSave customer since 2021 and Head of Operations and Visitor services, Woonie Chan wanted to share his experience using the HeatingSave system.
Woonie said, “my predecessor chose HeatingSave so that we could easily control and monitor the temperature of every room within the building.”
We asked Woonie what his favourite HeatingSave feature is, he replied, “I’m really happy with the scheduling system, allowing us to save and manage our energy more efficiently.” Woonie continued to express, that this feature really made the system stand out.
“It’s great because we can use the system and tailor it specifically for the theatre’s needs, making it very easy to manage” he added.
When on the topic of training to use the system, Woonie explained that he was not an employee at Polka Theatre during the instillation but had received some training on the scheduling system which he learned how to use very quickly.
“The systems resources are really good,” Woonie said.
Speaking to Woonie regarding the help desk he clarified, “The system has been very reliable and I have not needed to reach out yet but I’m happy the help desk is there if I need any assistance.”
Polka Theatre use HeatingSave’s “all in one integrated system” to control the electric, manage and set room temperatures and are able to monitor everything remotely via a mobile phone, if needed.
Sustainability and being green is also an ongoing mission for Polka Theatre and HeatingSave’s system is contributing to help them fulfil that goal.
