Businesses in Bath’s Enterprise Zone to get new green heating systems

Businesses based in Bath’s brand new Enterprise Zone will be eligible to have green heating systems installed, including systems powered by energy from waste or recovered heat taken from industry, after the Bath and North Somerset Council received a £95,000 grant from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

The grant will be used for funding new heating projects that are low carbon, a news report in the local media can reveal. Furthermore, as part of the funding scheme, the Bath and North Somerset Council will also be given support to write a business plan to help attract additional commercial investment for the project.

A spokesman for the council commented on this announcement: “The council is very positive about supporting measures that reduce the carbon footprint of the community and will be considering ways to make the Enterprise Area as green and low carbon as possible. One of these ways is by using heat networks which is already a planning requirement for the Enterprise Area.

“This money will fund a study to inform us about the most effective way of achieving this aim, building upon the success of the heat network which supplies the homes at Bath Riverside, and making the Enterprise Area more attractive to investors.”

Recovering energy from waste or reclaiming heat from the industry could indeed be an important part of a cleaner, greener future, but quantifying the effects such solutions might have on companies’ energy bills is still a difficult thing to do. Implementing extensive energy optimization measures is also a very sound idea, and this is specifically where HeatingSave could put its extensive experience in the field to very good use.

HeatingSave optimizes any heating system’s overall functionality by taking into account a variety of factors, such as internal and external temperatures, occupancy, time of the year, the particular characteristics of installed boilers, etc. All of the data is used in order to determine the best heating patterns for the various heating zones within any building, using our proprietary heat-loss algorithm.

The end result is that users still get a very good level of comfort, while in the same time saving energy and money in the process.
