Civic Centre in Craigavon set to undergo major energy efficiency refurbishment
Ten local authorities in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have joined forces for a project designed to demonstrate best practice for reducing energy costs, a news report in the local business media has revealed.
As part of this very interesting initiative, the local authorities have each earmarked five of their most energy hungry buildings to undergo detailed energy audits. Following this audit processes, nine buildings were selected to undergo upgrades to building fabric and building services to reduce the energy consumption.
It is expected that the project works will showcase best practice and the renewable technologies most suited to the local climate to local SME’s and homeowners alike.
One of the buildings selected for an energy upgrade is Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre, whose lighting system will be upgraded and made more energy efficient.
Craigavon Borough Council representative of East Border Region Alderman Arnold Hatch, commented: “We have almost completed the new lighting throughout the building and it has made a significant difference for both staff and visitors. Not only is the lighting much brighter but as it is energy efficient it will significantly reduce our overall lighting costs.”
While installing an energy efficient lighting system certainly is a step in the right direction, the truth of the matter is that significant savings can only be really achieved when implementing a solution designed to optimize energy consumption across the board, whether we’re talking about electricity or gas.
This is exactly where HeatingSave system might prove its worth, since our solution allows customers to achieve immediately savings of up to 30%+ on their energy bills. This is achieved by optimizing the energy consumption levels within any building with the help of an advanced heat-loss algorithm that creates a specific profile for any building and based on that, switches heating on later if its warm and off earlier if its cold.
It also automatically adjusts your boiler depending on how warm it is outside – save up to another 10%.
Furthermore, the system also offers an advanced automatic occupancy detection system that allows the temperature to reduce to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.
