All Saints Church Choose HeatingSave To Become Carbon Neutral
All Saints Church is an Anglican Church based in the heart of Sidmouth. It consists of a main church building with a hall extension and other separate schoolrooms. The Church is in regular use, with congregations of up to 150 people, twice every Sunday, as well as a variety of other activities and community groups occupying the buildings during the week.
All Saints Church is run by a combination of the PCC (the Parochial Church Council, an executive committee of a Church of England parish), along with part-time Administrators and numerous volunteers. Jon Brown, a Volunteer at All Saints Church, with a background in IT and Engineering, recently spoke to the HeatingSave reporter to speak on behalf of the All Saints Church committee about the installed HeatingSave Building Energy Management System.
A few years ago, the Church committee conducted an energy audit following an agreement that the Church should be looking to be more energy and environmentally efficient. “This coincided with the Church of England announcing that they wanted to be carbon neutral by 2030”, said Mr. Brown. “We were looking to replace our failing boiler control system with one that enabled us to minimise the amount of energy we were using, that also gave us better zonal heating control and could be controlled remotely. We also needed to be able to import room usage directly from our existing Church Booking system”, added Mr. Brown.
“HeatingSave was the only company that was able to meet all of our requirements in a single package, and that was sensible and affordable. At the end of the day, we made our decision on who we felt was going to deliver and who we trusted. We also felt that HeatingSave had a really good customer support system”, remarked Mr. Brown.
When asked whether he had received training on how to use the system, Mr. Brown said, “Yes, and because of my background in Engineering I have a very good understanding of the HeatingSave BEMS; both in conceptual terms and of the software and electronics that stands behind it”. He added, “This meant that the training process was easy for me, and I’m sure if one of our Administrators, with no Engineering background, joined me in the training session that they would have had no issues understanding how to use it either”.
Mr. Brown told the HeatingSave reporter that HeatingSave’s customer support is “Very good!”. He added, “I’ve called on a number of occasions and always had fast responses. They have explained things and sorted out any of our issues. From my experiences of customer services in the past, HeatingSave is up there with the best. HeatingSave is keenly focused on supporting its customers”.
Explaining whether All Saints Church is considering extending their HeatingSave system in the future, Mr. Brown said, “Yes, we will be but we are unclear when and to what extent at this moment in time. We have various plans to modernise part of the building which includes extending our existing HeatingSave system”.
When asked what he likes most about the HeatingSave Building Energy Management System, Mr. Brown replied, “The fact that we can control the system remotely via a PC and it allows us to know exactly what’s going on”.
Would All Saints Church recommend HeatingSave to other Churches and similar organisations? “Yes!” remarked Mr. Brown. “We have actually already recommended HeatingSave to other Churches”.
Summing HeatingSave up in a few words, Mr. Brown said “The system itself is simple-to-use, technically advanced, effective and efficient. The company has been very supportive and fast in their responses”.
