£200 million ‘Warm Up North’ initiative to lower bills for 50,000 North-East properties

Up to 50,000 North-East properties are set to receive energy efficiency-related upgrades under the £200 million ‘Warm Up North’ scheme, whose main objective is to help reduce bills and tackle fuel poverty in the area.

According to a news report on the matter, the eight local authorities that have signed up for this scheme include Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, Northumberland, Redcar and Cleveland, South Tyneside and Sunderland.

Councillor Gerald Bell, Cabinet Member for investment and development at Newcastle City Council said: “Warm Up North will make a significant contribution to a number of our priorities in Newcastle – by tackling fuel poverty it will help to reduce inequalities, by improving energy efficiency it will help create decent neighbourhoods and by creating job opportunities it will help to create a working city.”

If you don’t qualify for such a program but you’d still want to make your property more energy-efficient, then the HeatingSave system could help, given the fact that it allows home owners to cut energy bills by up to an impressive 30%+.

The system is built around the idea of optimizing the energy consumption levels within any area with the help of an advanced heat-loss algorithm that creates a specific profile for any building and based on that, switches heating on later if its warm and off earlier if its cold.

Additionally, the automatic occupancy detection allows the temperature to reduce to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.
