Chancellor reveals extensive set of measures targeting the energy sector during the Autumn Statement

As part of his Autumn Statement, Chancellor George Osborne revealed an extensive set of measures designed to reduce energy bills while boosting Britain’s fracking industry, a media news report has revealed.

As part of the Statement, the Chancellor announced “thousands of jobs, billions of pounds of investment and lower energy bills”, with the measures including a £50 reduction in annual household energy bills, the cancellation of next year’s planned 2p rise in the price of a litre of petrol, and a further cut to the shale gas tax — from 62% to 30%.
