Greater Manchester authorities urge residents to find the best energy deals

Following the recent bout of energy price hikes from five of the “Big Six” UK energy suppliers, local authorities in the Greater Manchester area are urging residents in danger of falling into fuel poverty to switch to better deals, a news report in the local media has revealed.

The authorities in this region have shown quite a significant level of interest regarding the residents’ energy security, as they’ve organised an energy switching scheme earlier this year, in which people from across the region were invited to join two ‘reverse auctions’ before being offered new deals on their gas and electricity bills which they could either accept or reject.

This was the most successful scheme of its kind in the country, with more than 40,000 people coming forward to take part in both auctions. The average saving was £122 per household, but some residents were able to shave as much as much as £900 from their annual bills.

Although finding the best available energy supply deal is a good short-term solution to the problem of ever-rising bills, the truth of the matter is that even this won’t help that much on the long-term. In fact, the best long-term measure for cutting energy-related costs is to optimize one’s energy consumption levels, and this is specifically where HeatingSave could help, since it enables energy savings of 20 to 30%+.

Building Energy Management Systems are capable of delivering extensive monitoring and control options, compared to basic controls. They typically employ data from a variety of sources (boiler flow and return sensors, internal and external temperature sensors, occupancy sensors, humidity sensors, etc.), and enable the perfect optimization of a building’s boiler-based central heating system.
