Scottish government starts new energy efficiency campaign

A new energy hotline has been set up in order to provide Scottish home owners with detailed information regarding energy efficiency home improvements such as insulation, boilers or central heating, a news release on the matter has revealed.

A campaign that’s offering free impartial energy advice and aims to raise awareness of the hotline and the financial help that is available has also been launched by Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

The Scottish government has made £74m available for home improvements, but, as the Scottish Minister said: “Many people are losing money by not taking up initiatives yet anyone can apply for up to £1,200 towards home improvements that will make their home warmer, greener and more cost-effective.”

“Many people will also qualify to get energy-saving home improvements such as insulation, boilers or central heating for free.

“The hotline’s advisers are friendly and impartial, and one call is all it takes to see what you might be eligible for.”

A recent YouGov survey suggested that three-quarters of Scottish billpayers were concerned about the cost of their energy this winter while more than 70% said last winter’s energy bills had a negative impact on their disposable income.

The HeatingSave building energy management system is approved to work and save fuel within the Energy Technology List, which is managed by the Carbon Trust on behalf of the Government. It is also approved by the Department of Energy & Climate Change and the Energy Savings Trust and was specified by the Building Research Establishment for the energy efficient homes retro-fit program, called The Greenhouse Project.

Last, but certainly not least, it’s important to mention that HeatingSave is a component part of the Government’s Green Deal program.
