£9.2m available for small businesses and buildings around North East Lincolnshire

The Smarter Energy Greater Lincolnshire program is making £9.2m available for small businesses and buildings around North East Lincolnshire to save money with energy efficiency, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.

The aim of the North East Lincolnshire Council program is to prevent the release of thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions into the environment while reducing businesses’ energy costs.

“We will be working with small and medium businesses as a one-stop-shop for all their energy efficiency needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to get advice and training on how to save money, as well as giving grants towards any improvements that need to be made,” the program manager Helen Norris said.

The project is aiming to provide training for 400 businesses over the next three years, and award grants or vouchers to a further 169.

Businesses can apply for up to 38% of any changes to be paid for by the program, such as upgrading their boilers and lighting systems.
