Commercial property owners can achieve significant savings by integrating sustainability within the acquisition process
Making the principle of sustainability a key component of the acquisition process could help commercial property owners achieve significant savings, experts believe.
For this reason, a group of property companies and industry experts have joined forced to develop the Better Buildings Partnership (BBP) Acquisitions Sustainability Toolkit, which aims to provide a common approach for the industry to follow.
It includes non-technical guidance on addressing sustainability issues such as minimum energy efficiency standards and flooding.
Property owners including Aviva Investors, The Crown Estate, Grosvenor and Legal & General Real Assets have committed to use the guidance to further enhance their due-diligence processes.
Sarah Ratcliffe, BBP Programme Director said: “It is absolutely critical that sustainability risks and opportunities are reflected in owners’ investment decisions. The responsibility for this, however, should not be the preserve of the ‘sustainability experts’ but simply part of business as usual.
“This toolkit supports this by enabling investment teams to understand the issues and take the lead in embedding them within their own internal processes.”
HeatingSave Building Management System (BMS) – the perfect solution for achieving energy savings within the commercial property sector
Achieving energy savings within the non-domestic sector can be easily achieved by implementing advanced BMS (Building Management System) solutions, and this is exactly where the HeatingSave system might prove its worth, since our solution allows customers to achieve immediately savings of up to 30%+ on their energy bills.
This is achieved by optimizing the energy consumption levels within any building with the help of an advanced heat-loss algorithm that creates a specific profile for any building and based on that, switches heating on later if it’s warm and off earlier if it’s cold.
It also automatically adjusts your boiler depending on how warm it is outside – save up to another 10%.
Furthermore, the system also offers an advanced automatic occupancy detection system that allows the temperature to reduce to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.
