The UK ranks as world’s fifth most energy efficient country
The UK is the world’s fifth most energy efficient country, a recent report by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has been able to suggest.
The research analysed the energy efficiency in different sectors including building, industry and transportation as well as national efforts to control energy usage in 23 countries, which together represent 75% of all the energy consumption globally.
The UK was ranked in fifth place due to changes in policies such as the abolishment of the Green Deal, a 33% cut to the country’s Energy Efficiency Obligations target and a 20% cut to future spending.
However, it added while the nation has strong policies to improve fuel economy and advance vehicle technologies, much more can be done to improve the overall efficiency of the freight and passenger transport systems.
Germany has been ranked the highest in the scoreboard followed by Italy and Japan.
Steven Nadel, Executive Director at ACEEE said: “Energy efficiency is often the lowest cost means of meeting new demand for energy. Governments that encourage investment in energy efficiency and implement supporting policies save citizens money, reduce dependence on energy imports and reduce pollution. Yet energy efficiency remains massively underutilised globally despite its proven multiple benefits and its potential to become the single largest resource to meet growing energy demand worldwide.”
HeatingSave BEMS– improving energy efficiency for commercial and residential buildings alike
Domestic and non-domestic customers alike can take advantage of the impressive level of energy efficiency enabled by the HeatingSave Building Energy Management System, which allows user to save 20 to 30 percent on their gas and electricity bills by optimizing consumption levels across any building, depending on its specific heat-loss profile.
Plus, the system also includes automatic occupancy detection features, allowing the temperature to be reduced to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.
It’s also very important to mention that HeatingSave can take an automatic decision on whether to use electricity or gas for heating during summer, and also enables users to set a night setback temperature, reducing the night heating by a few degrees to still keep 24/7 operations warm whilst saving energy and money.
